Identicitation and possible use of industrial heritage for sustainable local development
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Industrial heritage, both tangible and intangible, forms an important part of cultural heritage across the world's regions. In our research, we focus on socio-economic aspects of industrial heritage and its importance for tourism. The development of industrial, and information, and communication technologies has left behind a large number of post-industrial and post-agrarian buildings without their primary use. Although the buildings, the nature of their use, and their history differ from region to region, they have one thing in common - the legacy of our history and the stories of the lives of people and their ancestors. This is why industrial heritage is increasingly becoming part of tourism products and often forms the core of these products. To this end, we develop an original methodology for constructing a local tourism product. The first phase of creating a local tourism product involves identifying, evaluating, and categorizing the region/destination's potential, including its industrial aspects, for subsequent exploitation. The successful application of the methodology in the industrial region of the north-eastern region of the Czech Republic is briefly presented. At the same time, the Duero Valley region in north-western Michoacán, Mexico, where the methodology is currently being implemented, is described.
