Radiation camera based on Timepix chip
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of ionizing radiation detection and imaging with radiation camera based on Timepix readout chip. The main aim of the work is to evaluate the spectrometric and imaging properties, like detection efficiency, energy resolution, spatial resolution and quality of created images, of a prototype radiation camera with sensor based on bulk semi insulating GaAs and compare them to the properties of commonly used camera based on monocrystalline Si material. X-rays of energies from 3 to 100 keV were used for the testing, because of the importance of such X-rays in soft tissue and material imaging. Moreover, basic properties of the radiation camera itself, its history and current status of research and development as well as its setting up to operation mode is presented.
