Tensile Properties of the Beta-Nucleated Polypropylenes
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
According to crystallization conditions isotactic polypropylene can crystallize in several forms denoted alpha, beta and gamma. It is known that the beta phase content can significantly influence the properties of material. It is generally known that beta phase of iPP is less thermodynamically stable than alpha phase. Therefore it may seem that properties, which were improved by presence of beta phase, can change with time as a result of decrease of the beta phase content. That is why the aim of this work is to analyse time stability of the beta phase and its influence on the tensile properties of the injection molded samples. It has been found that the beta phase content has strong effect on the tensile properties; in particular an elongation at breakof the nucleated samples has been improved very significantly. It is also evident that beta phase is time-stable and samples hold their mechanical properties independently of time.
