Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Polymer nanocomposite is an emerging area in polymer science where property improvements are obtained by incorporation of nanofillers in the polymer matrix. One of the important steps in polymer/clay nanocomposites preparation is the nanofiller modification step. Nowadays, this is done by two main methods, namely ion-exchange and ion-dipole. Ion exchange involves the replacement of one set of ions by another set of ions. Ion dipole method is a process where an ion intercalates with a dipole. In additionto these two methods a third new method has been recently developed. This is the grafting method which has the distinct advantage where no ions are released, thereby being more environmentally friendly. The objective of this thesis was to produce Polyolefin/clay nanocomposites using the grafting technique. For this purpose various nanofillers were first modified to produce the nanocomposites. There were four different nanofillers namely Montmorillonite (MMT-Na), Cloisite 20A (C20A), Clo
