In the current economic climate, according to economists, one of the best economic policies is based on fostering competitiveness and innovation of regions through activities concentrated on structure of clusters. The globalized world today forces regional policy makers to develop new activities such as clusters. Cluster building process started during the 1990s in many European Union countries. The main reason was to strengthen the industry?s ability to innovate and increase national competitiveness. Global market is no longer determined by single companies but increasingly by entire industries and branches. Cluster initiatives are the way to foster not only innovation but also co-operation and internationalisation among companies and regions to succeed in global competition.
