Despite of that so many employees are women and their skills and experiences are necessary for further progress of society and in spite of assumed measures to gender equal, there is wide gender wage gap and women occupy only a very fraction of the top positions. It is not clear what has caused those differences. After decades of research, most investigators would agree that there could be no single-factor explanation for gender inequality in the labour market. One of explanations is gender differences in competition entry. This paper considered the approaches to understand do men and women respond differently to competitive environment and whether the gender stereotypes influence this process?
