Simultaneously with the introduction of direct payment in new member countries of EU, some steps were also in progress reflecting, at the same time, the transfer of supports originally included under the market support into project oriented supports, which are connected with the increase of means in the field of rural development. In this area, ?non-claim? supports are more markedly promoted by structural and other aspects of multifunctional agriculture. The paper deals with problems of the support of agroenvironmental measures (AEM) and supports of management in less favoured areas (LFA) in Czech agriculture. Supports of AEM and LFA contribute to maintain sustainable agricultural systems, rural development and multifunctional agriculture.
