Family business is very important and has essential place in every economic system. Despite the efforts of researches and family business? experts there are many different approaches on how to define family business and none of them describes this specific kind of business in whole. The paper analyzes these different approaches and describes limitations of current definitions of family business. Paper seeks to offer a comprehensive list of problems and shortcomings of defining the family business. Theseconclusions are based on theory and literature review in the field of family business management and related areas.
