The SMEs plays a vital role in the economy of developing countries like Nigeria in terms of its contribution to the GDP and creation of employment. The problematic economic and political environment in which SMEs operate poses a huge threat to the striving of the SMEs and hinders its competitiveness. However, the competitiveness of the SMEs can be enhanced given the right environment and conditions. This paper aims to examine how the competitiveness of the SMEs can be improved to give them comparative advantage in the global market place.
