This research analyses the impact of staff turnover on handling of knowledge management of knowledge intensive firms. As known, the success of knowledge intensive firms is dependent on knowledge management practices in the firm. A better knowledge management system may comprise with feasible strategies to identify, react and overcome problems inherited in knowledge resources. Employees of knowledge intensive firms are considered as the prime resource in terms of knowledge creation, accumulation, sharing and protection. As a result, human resource management practices of knowledge intensive firms have made a direct effect to knowledge management and business success of such firms. Information Technology (IT) industry is one of the fast growing industrial sectors in the world. Mostly, IT industry is considered as knowledge intensive industry. One of the critical problems of this industry, to both human resource management and knowledge management is high staff turnover. In order to examine the effect of staff turnover to knowledge management, a questionnaire was used to collect data from employees who are working in IT oriented firms in Sri Lanka. Respondents from different job categories and companies for the sample have been selected using stratified sampling method. Initially, descriptive analysis of the respondents and responses were done to identify basic features of the sample. Thereafter, correlation analysis was carried out to see the relationship of sub components of knowledge management and staff turnover.
