Innovation is essential driving force of sustainable development and enterprises competitive edge. In the tourism sector, innovation affects productivity and performance positively. This paper uses bibliometric analysis to explore the whole picture of innovation in the tourism industry. The authors use VOSViewer software to analyse 3730 papers in the Scopus database from 1980 to 2021. The results give information on developing documents in this field over the years. The authors also analyse the most influential authors, most cited countries, and most subjects, and the most common keywords in these papers. In the 3730 papers come from 116 countries, Spain is the country where most papers publish the most paper (302 papers). Business, Management, and Accounting are the most subjects of publications on innovation in the tourism sector, with 1,947 papers. The most keyword is “INNOVATION”, with total link strength is 3,445, and links other words is 466. Innovation in the tourism sector was the most frequent, followed by sustainable development, tourism development, hospitality industry, sharing economy, etc. There are 6,131 authors who have participated in the publication of the innovation in tourism sector papers. In conclusion, the paper discussed the trend topics of innovation in the tourism sector.
