In connection with the qualitative development of human resources and rais-ing of the educational level of the population an emphasis on the possibility of obtaining the highest levels of education and training opportunities throughout their whole career path is laid. The basis for this process is the higher education system. Students in higher education represent an important social category, which is an integral part of the social life of municipalities.The study presents the results of an extensive research among high school graduates who enter higher education process. The study reflects their expecta-tions, preferences, ways of choosing a university, knowledge of study fields, and other criteria.
