ADVANCED POLYMERIZATION TECHNIQUE OF MONOMER BEARING EPOXY GROUP USING MECHANICAL WAVE
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Polymerization techniques utilized controlled mechanism are usually activated by temperature [1] or light [2]. However, in 2017 there was published new approach of activation of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) by ultrasound and called mechano-ATRP [3]. Therefore, the presented study is dealing with polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate using ATRP upon stimulation of mechanical wave. Such polymer has not been previously prepared using this approach. In this respect, the monomer was polymerized using various catalytic system, various ratios between the monomer and initiator and various concentrations of specific catalytic system. The monomer conversion was investigated using proton spectrum of nuclear magnetic resonance. The molecular weigh during polymerization was monitored measured using gel permeation chromatography and polydispersity index was calculated based on this. It was found out that this polymerization approach provides well-controlled polymerization of epoxy type of monomer in very short time, low temperature and high monomer conversion, which shows potential ways of this type of monomers to be effectively applied in various real-life applications.
