The article deals with the method of creating a database of innovative companies of the region and of support subjects within the RIS3 (Research and innovation strategies for smart specialization) concept principles. It includes filling the database with companies of the Vysočina Region. To create the innovation database, we used MS Access. A digital map was created based on the data from the database, which also includes GPS coordinates of innovative companies’ headquarters. The map is composed in the maps.google.cz web application. The advantage of the digital map is fast orientation in which innovative companies there are in the given geographical area. The digital map is accessible at https://tinyurl.com/ybt9vdff.After entering economic information the Albertina database is used as the source database. The Albertina database is created following a different systemisation of companies within an internationally valid classification of economic activities, the NACE classification. For the purpose of the innovation database and the digital map, a NACE/EEN transformation bridge has been created. EEN categorizes innovative subjects according to the Europe Enterprise Network. The innovation database and the digital map were forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce in Jihlava and will serve to increase the innovation potential of the region.
