The Cultural Heritage of the Northern State Railway
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The monograph continues along the same line of research (in terms of its content, structure and overall approach) established by a previous publication focusing on the Emperor Ferdinand Northern Railway. This publication focuses on three sections of the Northern State Railway which are within the territory of todayś Czech Republic: Olomouc – Prague, Brno – Česká Třebová and Prague – Děčín. The book addresses two central goals: 1. to describe the station of the Nortern State Railway and other surviving structures and equipment dating from the time of construction, 2. to assess and evaluate the surviving structures from later years, particularly in relation to the period 1855–1909, when the line was owned by the State Railway Company, which despite its name was a private corporation. The section of the book focusing on typology presents an analysis of the development of specific types of structures through various historical phases. This is followed by a catalogue which lists cultural monuments and other sites for which applications for cultural monument status will be submitted.
