The role of genetic factors in susceptibility to alcoholic liver disease
Project goals
The aim of the proposed study is to find combination(s) of genetic variants in 7 genes responsible for the genetic disposition to the development or serious course of ALD. Twelve polymorphisms in the 7 key genes will be analysed in min. 200 patients withALD and 450 healthy controls. The obtained allelic frequencies will be evaluated by statistical methods.

Project name in Czech
Úloha dědičných faktorů v etiologii a patogeneze alkoholické nemoci jater.
Annotation in Czech
Nalezené frekvence alel u pacientů a kontrol budou porovnány statistickými metodami.

Project results evaluation
We have shown that haplotype increases the risk for the development of alcoholic liver cirrhosis five times whereas polymorphisms in BPI, LBP, TLR4,CD14, TNF-A, SOD2 and UCP2 are not risk factors for alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
