Traditional international conference New Methods 2024 Prague, 21 – 22 October 2024
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Conference is traditionally organized for specialists, who are interested in news in forensic science field and material science. Suggested next topic of the meeting – news in: • X-ray imaging • Possibilities of AI in forensic science field • Hyperspectral a multispectral imaging • 3D imaging in forensic science • Optical microscopy and Image analysis • Scanning electron microscopy and focused ion beam technology • Spectroscopy method • Forensic analyses of Works of Art • Infrared mapping and imaging • Particle analyses, 3D imaging, measurement and reconstruction • Trace analysis • etc. This year's conference was focused on, among other things, on the results from the project “Advanced robotic multimodal system for non-destructive forensic material analysis”. Analysis and characterization of 2D and 3D objects is widely used forensics and materials research (investigating the causes of industrial accidents and explosions, accidents in aviation and automobile transport, investigating the causes of fires, etc.). Similar methods are also used in the analysis of suspected forgeries of art objects (paintings, plaques, sculptures). One of the options is the use of robotic scanners with various multimodal detectors (X-ray scanner with other analytical modalities - XRD, XRF, multispectral imaging and others). Robotic scanners system explore new approaches to both 2D and 3D X-ray imaging and CT, especially in combination with photon-counting detectors. On 21 and 22 October, the international conference “New Methods 2024” was held at the ZSMV Spiritka facility, dedicated to presenting the results of the project “Expert Robotic Multimodal System for Non-Destructive Forensic Material Analysis” (project ID: VB01000046). This project was supported by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic under the Czech Security Research Programme 2021–2026: Development, Testing and Evaluation of New Security Technologies (SECTECH). The conference was attended by 77 delegates — the full capacity of the venue — representing 11 countries (including Norway, the United Kingdom, Germany, Georgia, Lithuania, Romania, Hungary, and Poland). A total of 20 lectures were presented. Among the most notable were: - Robotic System Brings New Possibilities for Non-Destructive Forensic Analysis of 3D Objects - Identification of Forgery of Handwritten Records Produced on CNC Devices - The Scale and Dynamics of Counterfeiting of Modern Banknotes Worldwide - Elemental Comparative Analysis Using Laser-Based Techniques - Perspectives on the Use of Forensics in the Study of Historical Crimes - Trace Searching Support with an Innovative Detector at Crime Scenes - Misidentification of Mineral Phases - XRM Technology: Discover More with 3D X-ray ...and several others.
