Basé sur de nombreux documents conservées dans diverses archives européennes, l'article présente les nouveaux éléments de la biographie de Joseph Kohaut (1734-1777), l'un des derniers luthistes connus en Europe. Joseph Kohaut, née à Vienne dans la famille de luthiste Jacob Joseph Kohaut (1677/78-1762) originaire de Bohême, fut frère cadet de Karl Kohaut (1726-1784), luthiste et protégé de Wenzl Anton von Kaunitz-Rietberg. Les deux frères, ainsi que leur père furent attachés comme musiciens aux principales familles princières d'Europe.

Based on numerous documents held in various European archives, the article presents the new elements of the biography of Joseph Kohaut (1734-1777), one of the last known lutenists in Europe. Joseph Kohaut, born in Vienna in the family of lutenist Jacob Joseph Kohaut (1677 / 78-1762) from Bohemia, was younger brother of Karl Kohaut (1726-1784), lutenist and protégé of Wenzl Anton von Kaunitz-Rietberg. The two brothers and their father were attached as musicians to the main princely families in Europe.
