Nutritional status of the elderly is known as major determiner of their quality of life and could influence ability to be independent in the old age. It is important to pay special attention to the elderly in nursing homes where the higher rate of malnourished status is presented. Methods: The longitudinal survey (for one year from January 2010 till January 2011) was made by the evaluation of 99 elderly persons (residents) living in the Nursing home. The basic data, weight, height, body mass index (BMI)of each were recorded. The relation among the level of self-care (ADL test), mental status (MMSE-Folstein test) and nutritional status (Mini Nutritional Assessment) score (first in January 2010, secondly in July 2010 and finally in January 2011) was evaluated. For statistical analyses we used Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Mann Whitney U test, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
