Nel nostro contributo vorremmo parlare sul trattamento del tempo e dello spazio nel libro di Favole di Karel Čapek. Come primo cercheremo di individuare le caratteristiche principali di fiabe e favole e vedremo quali sono le differenze tra il concetto del tempo e dello spazio in favole in generale e quello nel libro di Favole; prosequiremo con una breve introduzione dell?autore, parleremo del rilievo che i luoghi i cui nomi sono stati usati nell?opera hanno avuto nella sua vita e la parte finale del contributo sará dedicata ai gruppi dei toponimi contenuti nelle Favole e alle loro traduzioni italiana e inglese. Ci occuperemo brevemente anche della traduzione dei nomi di cittadini. Per la nostra analisi dei toponimi, vorremmo applicare un sistema di partizione in tre gruppi. In ognuno dei gruppi ci concentreremo sulle differenze tra i termini non tradotti e quelli tradotti e vedremo come ognuna delle due tradutrici ha trattato il problema della resa.

The paper focuses on the problematics of translation of toponyms used in Devatero pohádek by Czech author Karel Čapek. First we'll try to give a general definition of a fairy-tale, it?s origins and characteristics. Next we'll focus on the differences between the concepts of time and space in the traditional fairy-tales and in those written by Čapek. The following part analyses on use of the toponyms in the Czech original text and it's English and Italian translations. The analyzed toponyms were dividedin three main groups according to their provenience, i.e. domestic Czech and foreign with international forms, domestic Czech without international forms, imaginary toponyms. In each of these groups the terms were subsequently categorized by following criteria: untranslated, translated and replaced. We have seen how both of the translators treat the toponyms differently and that the ratio of toponyms in the three main groups divided by the default criteria differ to some extent.
