Rhetorical effectiveness of (quasi) logical design of arguments
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
According to Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca scientific audience tends to be influenced by argumentation presented as following logically or being demonstrative. The paper examines a rhetorical effectiveness of so-called quasi-logical arguments introducedinto theory of argumentation by New Rhetoric programme. This paper interconnects this perspective with pragma-dialectical theory of argumentation. It examines quasi-logical arguments by concept of strategic maneuvering that is considered as an attempt ofspeakers to strengthen rhetorical effectiveness of arguments but simultaneously not to weaken their dialectical soundness. The paper investigates ?quasi-logicality? as a type of strategic maneuvering. The analysis is presented on particular case of twosub-types of quasi-logical arguments: reciprocity and rule of justice. Speech acts theory and concept of felicity conditions is used for research of rhetorical effectiveness of topical choice of these argument schemes.
