Have we lost freedom of speech?
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The text is devoted to the freedom of speech – one of the "the milestones" of the democratic state. Besides being one of the elements of a democratic society, freedom of speech is an important factor for self-realization of the individual. Freedom of speech is guaranteed by a number of international charters and conventions ratified and respected by Bulgarian law. But however vast the scope of freedom of expression, some restrictions to the exercise of this right may in some circumstances be necessary. Considering the freedom of speech, we are talking about the so called public subjective right, which corresponds to the obligation of everyone not to interfere with anybody else expressing their own opinion. Although freedom of speech as an inherent right is formulated as a uniform law, the exercise of that freedom includes not only rights but also certain obligations. In the text we pay special attention to the hate speech as one of the constituent parts of the so-called hate crimes.
