We introduce C-varieties and generalized C-varieties of homomorphisms from free algebras onto algebras of a given type, where C is a category of free algebras of this type. We formulate and prove (in fact, we generalize) the classical results of universal algebra for them. We study all in detail in the case of mono-unary algebras for a very natural category.
