Cystatins of the parasitic nematodes from the genus Trichinella
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The nematodes of the genus Trichinella are intracellular parasites of small intestine and skeletal muscle cells. They can infect a broad range of worldwide distributed hosts like birds, reptiles and mammals. All Trichinella spp. are zoonotic but only sixof twelve genotypes have been detected in humans, causing the trichinellosis - a serious, sometimes fatal, human disease, which has been documented in 55 countries of the World. Our study is focused on characterization of composition of excretory-secretory products (ESP) from L1 muscle larvae of three trichinella species - Trichinella spiralis, T. britovi and T. pseudospiralis. The dominant components of L1 ESP are cystatins. These proteins are a reversible inhibitors of proteolytics enzymes - cysteinpeptideases and they are involved in many relevant biological processes such as development, growth, digestion and migration of parasites and suppression of host immune responses.
