The study introduces a quantitative analysis of cross-examination questions used by a professioanl counsel in comparison with cross-examination questions used by two lay litigants-in-person. The data are drawn from a libel case McDonald's corporation v.Helen Steel and David Morris. The study comes to the conclusion that the pro se litigants show noticeable improvements in their cross-examination questioning as they learn from the counsel during the proceedings.
