Interactive visualization tools offer important support for understanding the scope and depth of the data set in various areas of human exploration. In this paper we present a new approach to visualize the use of external resources in the educational process. The proposed solution is based on real student monitoring, data analyzing, evaluating, and a new type of heat map constructing. The technical part of the proposed solution consists of a proprietary extension of web browser Chrome and external data storage. The new type of heat maps provide teachers a visual tool through which it is possible to simply display the range of additional information, which the student must obtain from other sources when learning the course.
