The article is focused on the broader context of raising funds for social purposes from private donors in the environment of disadvantaged regions, particularly the Ústí Region. It combines two sources of information and two research techniques -- qualitative research of non-profit organisations and donors and a questionnaire-based method of research focused on competence among social workers. The goal of the analysis of the research data is to answer the questions, How can fundraising for social purposes in socially excluded localities be understood? And how do particular social stakeholders work with this topic? The context of economic indicators frames regional specifics in a more general framework that exceeds the case study of a disadvantaged region.
