Surface Characteristics of Duplex Coated P/M M2 grade High Speed Steel
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The P/M M2 grade high speed steel was plasma nitrided and duplex coated (plasma nitriding + PVD TiN) at various combinations of processing parameters. Surface characteristics like the microstructure, hardness profiles, nitrogen concentration depth profiles and phase constitution have been investigated. The PVD - coating adhesion onto the strengthened surface via plasma nitriding was examined by the tribological tests with linear contact between the specimen and counterbody, whereas various contact pressure and sliding distance were applied. It has been determined that the temperature of the plasma nitriding has to be at least of 500 oC and the nitrogen rich atmosphere has to be used when a sufficient surface strengthening should be achieved. Effect ofsubsequent PVD TiN - coating realised on plasma nitrided specimens can be considered as very positive when the specimens were heavily loaded. Compared to uncoated specimens, the wear rate being represented by the mass loss of the specimen
