Duplex Coating of P/M M2 grade Ledeburitic Steel
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The P/M M2 tool steel was surface processed (plasma nitrided, duplex coated). Surface characteristics like the microstructure, hardness and nitrogen concentration depth profiles and phase constitution have been investigated. Wear behaviour was tested bythe ring - on - plate tribological with various contact pressure and sliding distance. It has been determined that the temperature of plasma nitriding has to be at least of 500 oC and a nitrogen rich atmosphere has to be used when a sufficient surface strengthening should be achieved. Structural evaluation revealed good adhesion of the PVD - overlay on nitrided substrate. Effect of PVD TiN - coating on wear resistance is very positive when the specimens were heavily loaded, because the wear rate was reduced to approx. 5 % in comparison with non - coated samples. If lower load was used then the improvement was not significant. This is due to changes of wear mechanism which take place when the testing load is increased from 50 to 150 N.
