Estimation of lifetime of contact areas of general kinematic pair – experimental method
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
"Theoretical and experimental procedures or a combination of both can be used to estimate the lifetime of the working surfaces of a cam and cam follower. The theoretical methods, however, are usually based on the knowledge of a parameter or several parameters that characterize the material from which the cam and the contact area of the cam follower are made. These characteristic parameters are not available for all materials, therefore there is necessary to use experimental procedures. The basis of these methods consists in loading the surface of the body by a force of periodic course depending on the angle of rotation of this body. In the case of cam mechanisms it is a transient type of loading. The loading body is a cylindrical roller and the loaded one, in analogy with a radial cam mechanism and a cam follower, corresponds to the cam itself. The aim of the experiments there is to achieve fatigue damage of the contact surface of the loaded body after a certain number of cycles. The load-carrying body is loaded by a force of given size depending on the material of the loaded body For this purpose a testing device for the testing of cylindrical shaped specimens made from selected steels with various surface treatment has been designed and implemented."
