Dependence of barrier properties on a chemical composition of plasma polymer thin films
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Plasma polymerization is a new economical coating technology which has been successfully used for deposition of a barrier coating on inner walls of plastic containers to prevent gas and moisture permeation through the container walls. The barrier properties of plasma polymer coated plastic containers are claimed to be several times better than conventional uncoated plastic containers. Plasma polymer has been also tested as a barrier coating on plastic fuel tanks against hydrocarbons permeation. The influence of an ion bombardment on the barrier properties and chemical composition of the films indicates that a high-density plasma without self-bias will be superior for deposition of polymer barrier films. To clarify the effect of a plasma coupling and the ion bombardment on the barrier properties we performed a series of laboratory experiments. We will here report some results of our investigations and the chemical composition of the films.
