The COMPAS tool creates a list of possible IC faults on the basis of the circuit description. It Compresses the test sequence created by an external ATPG. The resulting compressed test sequence can be transmitted through a narrow Test Access Mechanism into the tested IC and there it can be easily decompressed in the internal scan chains. The compression is based on test pattern overlapping , future bits to be effectively compressed estimation and on-line fault simulation. The effectivity of compressionis greater than for other commercial compression tools.
