Film ist ein populäres Medium, das sich ständig weiterentwickelt. Zusammen mit dem Stummfilm ist eine neue Textsorte entstanden: ‚die Filmuntertitel‘. Seit der Entstehung des Stummfilms haben sich das Medium ‚Film‘ und die Filmuntertitel sehr verändert. Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, diese Textsorte vorzustellen und die Funktionen der Textsorte ‚Filmuntertitel‘ in der Vergangenheit und auch im 21. Jahrhundert zu beschreiben.

Film is a popular medium that is constantly evolving. Along with the silent film, a new type of text emerged: 'film subtitles'. Since the emergence of silent film, the medium of 'film' and film subtitles have changed a lot. The goal of this chapter is to introduce this type of text and to describe the functions of the text type 'film subtitles' in the past and also in the 21st century.
