This task covers writing and debugging of sets of functions for testing of failure detection and right diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) storage by the ARS166 electronic control unit (ECU) during automated hardware in the loop (HIL) testing of the mentionedECU by using the PROVEtech:TA test environment. These functions control a failure insertion unit (FIU) of the HIL simulator and are called by the test script module according to a testing algorithm. There is one testing script and also one set of functions for checking one possible hardware failure such as open circuit, short circuit to power supply, short circuit to ground and implausible failure of wires to sensors, actuators and CANbus, and also CANbus communication failures. For ARS166 ECU around 80 sets of functions had to be written.
