This paper explores alcohol recipes in the 2WW and postwar period in the Czech-Germanborderland captured in handwritten cookbooks and also alcohol narratives in individual andcollective memory of past and present inhabitants of that region. Paper explores not onlywritten manuscript cookbooks recipes but also social context, memories and habitsconnected with chosen alcohol specialities and alcohol drinking (e.g. homemade alcohol,bread wine, brandy with butter, Likör, Schnaps, etc.). Alcohol recipes and related memoriesare seen as creative ways of using limited resources in times of scarcity, as well as thesubject of various cultural practices.
