Kinaesthetic learning style in mathematics
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A pilot study has been carried out with students of the Teaching Programme for Nursery Education at the Faculty of education of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen with the aim of exploiting and combining creativity, theoretical knowledge, practical and motoric skills in mathematics and physical education. The terms "Learning in Motion" or "kinaesthetic learning style" are used for this interconnection, which is also linked to experience education. The output of students' creative approaches is the design and implementation of activities for the development of pre-mathematical conceptions in combination with movement that are focused on children of 3-6 years of age. The implementation was as follows: Students of the Teaching Programme at the Department of Mathematics elaborated a term paper, where they modified concretely assigned elements of premathematical conceptions for the education of pre-school children. Major part of these activities was performed in stationary sedentary position. In the following term, students addressed the same topic at the Department of Physical Education, however the scope of their term paper was to modify this mathematical topic so that the elements of pre-mathematical conceptions would be taught in combination with movement. Students employed programs for organising and editing digital photography and video recordings.
