    Innovative Approach to Teaching Sustainable Development at Teacher Training College Through Project for Secondary Use of Recycled Electrical Materials

    Currently, teaching sustainable development is increasingly emphasized in higher education faculties. The growing awareness of environmental issues such as climate change, air pollution, and biodiversity loss requires future educators to be well-informed about sustainability principles, which includes theoretical knowledge and practical skills and the ability to integrate these principles into teaching. This means that university educators should be able to inspire their students and future educators to behave in an environmentally responsible manner and support initiatives that contribute to environmental protection. Society is also increasingly demanding sustainable solutions in various areas, including education, which is leading educational faculties to integrate sustainability into their curricula. It is also important to prepare students of educational faculties for a future where they will need knowledge and skills in the field of sustainable development. Educators play a key role in shaping future generations, and it is therefore essential that they can convey this important information as well as possible. Integrating sustainability into teaching also encourages creativity and innovation, which can lead to new and effective teaching methods.This article focuses on an innovative approach to this issue through the secondary use of recycled materials, such as electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCB) that have been removed from various electronic devices at the end of their life. Secondary use of materials is important not only in terms of reducing electronic waste (E-waste) but also as a practical tool for teaching students about sustainability and recycling. As part of the student project, E-waste was used to produce a clock, which allowed students from the Faculty of Education, specifically the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Technical Education, to master the individual phases of the project. Furthermore, the students practically applied individual elements of project management, quality management, and environmental management within the clock production process. The student project was divided into five phases. The first phase was the formulation of the basic idea of the project and feasibility analysis, including technical, economic, and legal aspects. This was followed by the design and planning phase, where students created clock designs and planned individual production steps, including the evaluation of potential risks during the production process. This was followed by material collection and preparation, where students learned how to safely disassemble and prepare electronic components and PCBs for secondary use. The practical part was the next phase of the project, where students monitored and controlled the production process itself. The last phase of the project was testing and evaluation, where the final product was tested and evaluated for quality and functionality.This project not only provided students with practical skills but also emphasized the importance of sustainability and recycling in technical education. At the end of the article, new directions for further research and applications are suggested, such as integrating other recycled materials and expanding the project to other faculties of education.
