Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Introduction: For the assessment of a body weight, we can use measuring the body composition, various anthropometricmeasurements, but a very simple tool may comprise the assessment according to the body mass index (BMI).Objectives: The objective of the study was to determine the association between BMI values and the quality of life. Methods: We used the body mass index (BMI) for the assessment according to body weight. We also used a standardisedWHOQOL‑BREF questionnaire of the quality of life (the brief version) of the World Health Organization. The studysample included 323 adults aged 18—65. The study sample was divided into two groups based on the BMI values andgender — BMI lower than 25 kg/m2 and BMI of 25 kg/m2 or higher. Results and conclusions: In the group of respondents with BMI <25 kg/m2, higher values were achieved in the domainsassessing the quality of life. In the experiencing area, lower values were achieved. In the domain of social relationships, the values tend to be close to the population standard, where higher values were achieved with respect to respondentswith BMI <25 kg/m2. In the environmental domain, higher values than the population standard were achieved in bothgroups.
