The contribution describes the results of a pilot study realised in the fifth grade of school attendence in the Czech Republic (children aged 11) focused on use of spreadsheet in the classroom. The paper discusses some children results illustrating how Excel can be used with children at various levels of obstraction as a tool helping them to solve problems.
