Geocircus: A Path to Modern Geography Teaching
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Integrating digital technologies into education is increasingly important, yet it faces several challenges. A significant barrier is the lack of digital competence among teachers, who often do not have the necessary skills to effectively incorporate technology into their teaching. Additionally, some educators view new digital tools as burdens rather than opportunities to enhance the methodological options available to them. The Geocircus concept aims to bridge this digital divide by supporting current and future geography teachers in the integration of modern technologies into their teaching. It addresses the need for educators to become familiar with technological advancements not covered in their training. Geocircus identifies the advantages and limitations of technology in education, fostering the development of digital competence in geography. Represented by a circus tent, this initiative unifies diverse activities and allows experimentation with virtual reality, geographic information systems, and robotics. By supporting innovative educational development, Geocircus inspires students to explore new geographical research areas and prepares them for the challenges of modern teaching. This article presents the theoretical background, analyzes the commonly used technologies in geography education and the problems associated with their practical implementation, describes Geocircus in detail, and evaluates its impact on the education of future geography teachers.
