The paper presents the Hazard and Impact Index Method as a method of preventive military training environmental impact assessment. The method has been under development under the auspices of the Czech Ministry of Defence since 2000. The first part is focused on a basic description of the method and is followed by a detailed familiarization with the key part of the method, the assessment process algorithm, which was completely amended in 2007. The final part outlines the intended implementation of the method in the Czech Department of Defence and possibilities of further co-operation in modification and expansion of the method in NATO armies.
