Mission: Exploring Motivational Factors in Second Language Acquisition Among Military Cadets
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The paper examines motivational factors influencing second language acquisition among cadets of the Czech Armed Forces studying at the University of Defense. Motivation, as a key driver of human behavior, plays a critical role in shaping learners’ goals, attitudes, efforts, and achievements. The study adopts an explanatory research approach to evaluate the relative importance of internal and external motivational factors. Data have been collected through a questionnaire survey conducted at the University of Defense Language Centre since 2022. To enrich the findings, semi-structured interviews explored learners’ experiences, changing motivations, challenges, and future expectations. This research provides valuable insights for language educators and contributes to a deeper understanding of language motivation in a specific institutional and professional context.
