The timely recognition of the gifted students and ensuring their proper individual development beyond the standard requirements of the accredited study programmes should be in the focus of attention of every educational institution. This fact holds truein the process of education of military professionals at the military universities as well. The author of this article believes that the cornerstones of development of all talented and gifted students rest (inter alia) in mastering information technologies and language skills. The text is influenced by the point of view of the Department of Communication and Information Systems, the University of Defence, Brno, Czech Republic. The attributes of the target group are described as well as methods usable for the timely recognition of the searched individuals.
