Assessment of Runway Surface Texture Using Lidar on UAVs: Initial Research and Point Cloud Processing
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Accurate measurement of runway surface texture is essential for air safety. This study explores the potential of using LiDAR on UAVs to measure runway surface texture. Surface texture is essential to ensure proper adhesion properties of the airfield. Test flights were conducted over selected concrete airfield surfaces. The resulting dataset is a point cloud. The results were compared with traditional texture measurement methods, it evaluated whether the obtained data is relevant. The paper proposes the modification and cleaning of point cloud in a cloud compare environment. It describes in detail the different tools and their settings used for data editing. The use of a simple tool to check the relevance of the data is proposed. Using the cloud to mesh distance tool, it was found that the measured data was within the expected range. In the last section, the paper suggests possibilities for further research and reveals the advantages and disadvantages of UAV and LiDAR-assisted measurements. The main advantage is the processing of a large area in a short time. This approach provides more accurate surface texture data than using conventional methods.
