The paper examines the problems faced by teaching staff of the Department of Languages when switching to distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic. The authors dwell on specific features of the distance presentation of new material, interactions pattern between the teacher and students, as well as the control of learning outcomes. The experimental part presents the survey results of teachers opinions on the frequency of using certain learning activities and the efficiency of some distance learning solutions. The authors share their successful experience of using MS Teams in a distance format.
