The response of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) to different concentrations of inorganic and organic compounds of arsenic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Tomato plants were cultivated in greenhouse and water solutions of arsenite (As(III)), arsenate (As(V)), methylarsonic acid (MA) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) were applied individually into cultivation substrate in two levels representing 5 and 15 mg As. kg-1 of substrate. Comparing the arsenic compounds applied, their plant ? availability increased in order arsenite = arsenate < MA < DMA where the arsenic contents in plants decreased during vegetation period of plants. Within one plant, the highest arsenic concentrations were found in roots followed in decreasing order by leaves, stems and fruits regardless of arsenic compound applied. Arsenic toxicity symptoms reflecting in lower number and size of fruits and suppressed growth of plants were most significantly evident at DMA treatment. However, the highest accumulation of arsenic by plants growing in the DMA amended soil was caused by higher mobility of this compound in soil due to its lower sorption affinity. The results confirmed
