Bifidobacteria in infants with allergic history.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The aim of our study was to compare faecal microflora of infants with allergic history and healthy infants. The addition aim was to compare bifidobacterial species isolated from faecal samples of these two groups of infants. Faecal samples from 74 fullybreast-fed infants (both sexes) with allergic history in the age between 25 and 209 days were collected. Control group consisted of 74 healthy infants. All children were born by vaginal delivery and no baby had been on antibiotik treatment prior to faecal sampling. Main bacterial groups were determined by cultivations, bifidobacteria using modified TPY agar (Sharlau, Spain) supplemented with mupirocin (100 mg/l) and acetic acid (1 ml/l) according to Rada and Petr (2000). Lactobacilli were enumerated using Rogosa agar (Oxoid). Wilkins-Chalgren agar (Oxoid) was used for the enumeration of total anaerobic bacteria. MacConkey agar and Slanetz-Bartley medium (both Oxoid) were used for the enumeration of coliform bacteria and enterococci, res
