Ultra high-pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) tandem high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) was employed to provide high mass accuracy data on extracts from edible insects. Three species (yellow mealworm, house cricket, and locust, and their respective feed were studied. A modified QuEChERS methodology was followed, and samples were injected into a Q Exactive Focus Orbitrap MS system equipped with a heated ESI source, acquiring spectra in both positive and negative ionization mode, operating in data-depended Discover mode. Three approaches were exploited target, suspect screening, and non-target analysis.
