Quality of winter wheat and triticale for bioethanol production

In experimental years 2005 and 2006 we evaluated starch content in grain dry matter and yield of grain in a set of winter wheat varieties from different quality groups (E elite, A high-quality, B additional, C others) and triticale varieties from different soil-climatic conditions of the Czech Republic. The highest content of starch in grain dry matter had on an average of varieties and years the wheat varieties from the quality group C and B and the lowest the varieties from the quality group E. Varieties from quality group C reached also the highest yields of grain. From results of starch content in grain dry matter in a set of triticale varieties, it is noticeable the highest level in variety Tricolor.
