The conference brought an active discussion on different forms, roles, and methods of music theory. Also, the comparison of the discourses in different countries was a part of this discussion. The individual contributions were examples of different approaches to music theory. Some emphasized its didactic aspect, others represented different analytical methods, and in some an interdisciplinary aspect of the field and expanding its boundaries was evident. The conference thus confirmed how pluralistic today's music theory is, but also the fact that this discipline is still capable of developing new instruments and thus being a relevant part of contemporary musical discourse.
